Genre-Bending Film Explores Trans World

"The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela" has racked up numerous film festival awards this year and with good reason. The new film, directed by Icelandic director Olaf de Fleur, looks at the world of a Filipino transsexual (or "ladyboy") struggling to escape the mean streets of Cebu City for a life of leisure in Paris. What makes the film so different is the way it blurs the line between real-life and fiction into what director de Fleur calls a "visionmentary." EDGE spoke to the director and the film’s co-star and co-producer Stefan Schaefer about the film.

Are You too Busy Dieting to Lose Weight?

Now that the unofficial end to summer has passed and you’re looking to get back in the swing of things you’ve probably started to tighten up on your diet. Or if you haven’t, it’s at least on your to-do list... and here’s the #1 thing to watch out for.

Location, Location, Location!

The time has come to choose where you will do it. But be warned: location is the frame in which a great wedding can take place. Do not let the frame outshine the wedding.
The New Face of Lincoln :: the 2009 Lincoln MKS

Lincoln used to be known for what we called "land yachts". You know, those massive Continentals from the ’60s and 70s that floated down the road with little road feel and slightly more control from the steering wheel than a rudder on a Hatteras Yacht. With the introduction of the new 2009 MKS, Lincoln hopes to attract younger buyers with a new brand image that went to boarding school in Europe and got a new wardrobe and driving manners along the way.
Number of Companies with Top Rating for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Workers Jumps by One-Third

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) has released the seventh annual Corporate Equality Index, which rates 583 businesses on a scale from 0 to 100 percent on their treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors. The 2009 edition of the CEI reports 259 businesses achieved a perfect score, a one-third increase over last year when the number was 195.
Going, going gone: JetBlue auctions flights on Web

Three New Spas in Scottsdale

US Government takes over mortgage giants

The Bush administration’s seizure of troubled mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is potentially a $200 billion bet that it will help reverse a prolonged housing and credit crisis.
Dancing Through the Sandstorm

If you’ve ever wondered how it is that a town as flamboyant as Miami Beach has only this year established a date for its first Gay Pride celebration, then the explanation might have something to do with the fact that the boyz in this town make nearly every weekend on this flamingo pink sandbar a celebration of Pride. Take this past Labor Day weekend, for example-a weekend where south Florida found itself sandwiched between two hurricanes. Evacuations to the west and trepidation to the east-and meanwhile, on the Beach, surfers rode the waves while the boyz cruised the avenues, twirling from one party to the next.
